Professional
I have been working as a software developer since I graduated from Monash University with a Computer Science degree in 1994. Career highlights include leading a team of developers on the development of a billing & customer care system for a telecommunications company, working as a program manager at Microsoft on features for Internet Explorer 7, and developing custom system hardening components for Global Gossip. I am currently working as a software developer building online applications for a major bank.
Research
I was awarded my PhD by the University of Techology, Sydney in 2008 for my dissertation An Ontological Framework for Contextualising Information in Hypermedia Systems. I undertook my research work in the Faculty of Engineering under the supervision of Prof. David Lowe. The key areas that drove my research were the Semantic Web, Web Ontology, Personal Information Management, and Information Science.
Interests
My current interests are developing information management tools and games for mobile devices, developing applications for helping people find information on the web based on the concepts explored in my PhD research, and learning how to use Blender for character aninmation. When I'm not playing with computers, I like to swim, go to the gym, or practise yoga.
